Product Description

This sleeve is for the axle drive shaft needle bearing inner race and radial seal surface on the axle.

To suit front axle shaft output from axle housing.

To suit the Ex ADF U1700L and others as required.

As per part number 128 on the attached diagram

Tech Tips:
Installation guide:
– After you remove the old sleeve you must thoroughly clean the axle shaft of any corrosion.
– Ensure there is no grease or foreign material on the axle, clean with Acetone or another suitable cleaner that leaves no residue.
– Wrap the axle end in a plastic bag, seal it then place the axle shaft into a chest freezer if available or another suitable cold environment where possible.
– Allow it to cool for an absolute minimum of 1 hour, longer is more beneficial. This cooling step is to ‘shrink’ the axle shaft.

– As the axle is cooling in a freezer clean the new sleeve in the same manner as the axle, ensure there is no grease or other foreign materials on the inside surface of the sleeve.
– After the axle has cooled for a sufficient period of time and while it is still in the freezer begin to gently heat the new cleaned sleeve with an electric heat gun, this needs to be heated evenly!
Continue to heat the part until it is far too hot to touch with a bare hand.
(Warning: Do not use a naked flame, oxy torch etc, if you over heat the sleeve/discolour the metal it will be ruined, this will void the warranty)
– While still applying the heat and preferably with the help of another person remove the shaft from the freezer, remove the plastic bag while ensuring not to touch the area where the sleeve is to be installed.
– Wearing a leather glove to protect your hand, remove the heat and pick up the sleeve then swiftly and carefully slide it over the axle shaft and down into place.
You should not need to force it into place; if this step is done correctly and swiftly the sleeve will slip completely home on the shaft.
If you slip or stumble while installing the sleeve and it does not go on in one fluid motion etc you run the risk of the sleeve not being in the correct installed position.

Final note: Ensure the bevelled edge of the new sleeve is facing AWAY from the cardan joint when installed!
