This is the main outer sealing ring for the wheel end of the portal axle assembly. It corresponds to item #96 on the attached parts diagram.

It suits a wide range of Mercedes-Benz Unimog models, including:

• U1700L

• U1750L

• U2450 6×6 (up to axle serial Nr, 022030)

• Other axle types as detailed in the compatibility table below

Tech Tip – Replace the Wear Ring Too

We recommend replacing the wear ring at the same time as the seal.
Why? The wear ring provides the smooth surface the seal lip runs on. Older versions are made from thick pressed steel and require an O-ring to seal.
Modern wear rings offer a fully sealed inner surface for improved reliability and longevity. If your truck still has the older type installed, an upgrade is worth considering.
